"Mi'kmaq arts and crafts, native owned and operated. All products Canadian made."

Native American Spirituality is quite common among not only Native Peoples of the Americas, but also non-natives throughout the world. It is a balance between all things. It gives respect to all; ourselves, one another and our Mother, the Earth.

Melissa Labrador-Posey is an 8th generation descendent of the early Mi'kmaq peoples of Kejimkujik. Her beliefs lie within the Mi'kmaq Spirituality and are practiced throughout her daily life. Each of her pieces of art reflect her strong belief in Mi'kmaq Spirituality and her cultural background. It has only been these past few years that Melissa has become a full time painter and she is a self taught artist picking up bits and pieces of information from many artisans like herself along the way. Many of her pieces can be found scattered across Canada, the USA, and throughout Europe. "I believe through my hands and my work that the ancestors teach me."

SUBJECT MATTER OF SPECIALTY:

Native American Spirituality - "Because my beliefs in the Mi'kmaq spirituality is so strong it seems to reflect in my work even when I do not consciously realize it. I am fascinated by the 'Spirit World' of our Mi'kmaq cultural beliefs and I tend to focus my designs and work towards what I think spirit's and such things relating to them would look like and do look like in my mind."
